Fabulous Tip of the Day: DIY Tinted Sunscreen

Today's Fab Tip:

It's starting to get warmer, which means spending more time outside, yay fun! But that also means needing to wear a higher SPF and reapplying sunscreen more frequently (not as fun). Here's a tip by makeup artist Carmindy, formerly of What Not To Wear, from the archives to keep your sunscreen from whitening your skin a little too much:

"Tint your SPF: It can sometimes look too white on skin. To nix the Casper cast, mix in a drop of foundation before applying."

There you are: a DIY way to give your face protection and minimal coverage without adding too many layers. Perfect for these days when the humidity is rising. Replace the foundation with BB cream for added moisture and benefits.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: Touching Up Concealer

Today's Fab Tip:

"If concealer or foundation around your eyes becomes thick and cakey late in the day, simply tap a little eye cream on top of the area with your finger to soften it a bit. Then blend it down with a non-latex sponge or Q-tip."

Luckily most eye creams come in tiny pots or tubes, so they're easy to keep in your makeup bag for touch-ups.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: Fixing Streaked Blush

Today's Fab Tip:

"If you get a blush streak on the cheek, buff the entire area down with a clean non-latex sponge. Then subtly add back the amount of color you want. Don't correct a streak by filling it in with more color; that's a recipe for a rouge riot."

This is a much easier way to fix blush mistakes without using makeup remover and starting all over from the beginning.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: Sculpt Your Shoulders

"Create stunning shoulders by smoothing shimmering lotion just onto their rounded tops."

Obviously this only works with bare shoulders, but the shimmer will catch the light and draw the eye to your sexy shoulders. It's fun to play up a different feature every so often, after all.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: Blushing Beauty

"Powder blushes are a bit faster to apply than creams, because you don't have to blend as much."

This is very true, especially if you use a big fluffy powder brush to blend for a very natural-looking flush. My favorite powder blush is Nars in Orgasm, one of the best powder blushes out there.

"If your skin looks too dry after foundation, try spritzing it with a little water. Then blend with a non-latex sponge."

Moisturizing is incredibly important. Just be sure not to spray too much, or your makeup may start to dissolve. That's not so flattering.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: Easy Spa Treatment

Today's Fabulous Tip of the Day:

"In the shower, buff skin with a handful of regular white sugar -- it's an inexpensive and amazing face and body scrub. To help erase self-tanning streaks, add a teaspoon of lemon juice."

Sometimes I use coarse raw sugar instead. Just be sure not to use the lemon juice if you'll be spending time in the sun immediately afterward, since the bleaching effect of lemon juice can make your skin more sensitive to the sun.

"For a wide-awake look, use cobalt-blue on the lower, inner rims of the eyes."
