Fabulous Tip of the Day: Rock Star Braid-hawk

Today's Fab Tip:

This is an edgy and badass look rocked by Paper Towns actress Halston Sage in the newest issue of Seventeen. (Yes, I am 25 and still read Seventeen, because it's full of awesome beauty advice and how-to's like this!) Basically the look is a faux-hawk of french braids and a Kat Von D-esque face tattoo, which is totally my look for today. Here's how to get it:

"Show off your hard-core side with a braid-hawk and (temporary) face tats. For your hair, create three French braids: one on each side of your head and one on the top. Weave each one until you reach the base of your head, then weave the three plaits together into a side braid. For eye art, simply use a star-shaped stencil and black liner[.]"
-- Taken from Seventeen magazine, June/July 2015, page 89.

My advice is to use a root-boosting volumizing spray to give your your top french braid some height, and spray the completed look with a texturizing finishing spray. Go with nude gloss and just mascara for makeup, since you don't want your eyes or lips to compete with the star tats. In the magazine Halston Sage is wearing a pleather crop top and jeans, but for me, since I personally despise crop tops, I would wear jeans, my white AC/DC tank top, and a black moto jacket.

Yep, I took a picture of the magazine page with my phone.
What do you think of this look? Would you style it differently? Let me know in the comments.

Beauty Inspiration: Pitch Perfect 2

I don't know about you guys, but I am super excited for Pitch Perfect 2 to come out! I especially love Beca's edgy style and makeup, especially that smudgy eyeliner!

Seriously, the edgy eyes and messy half-back hair are sheer perfection. Take a black kohl eye pencil (I like to use Maybelline's kajal version); line your upper and lower lashlines as well as your waterline; and smudge with a q-tip or your finger. Spritz your hair with a texturizing finishing spray, and pair with gigantic headphones. Dare I say it? A ca-awesome!

Here's Pop Sugar's video on beauty tips from the hair designer for Pitch Perfect 2, and it has some great tips for your hair during the hot and humid summer weather that's starting up.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: Grunge Lower Lashes

Today's Fab Tip:

Going along with the grunge inspiration from earlier, here's another fab tip from the Charlie XCX beauty shoot from March Cosmo:

"Channel your inner Kate Moss (after a long, rowdy night with Johnny Depp) by rocking liner that's deliberately smudged below your lower lash line. Easier than pulling a bender: Use a soft pencil... to rim inner eyes, then sweep a smudge brush dipped in charcoal shadow back and forth at your lash lines for a worn-in effect."
-- Taken from Cosmopolitan magazine, March 2015, page 164.

Applying a cream or kajal pencil to your waterline might be easier for a beginner, and if it isn't smudgy enough, use a q-tip to really give it that lived-in look. Don't forget to apply mascara on your lower lashes as well to really emphasis the liner and make the look pop! Honestly, this is one of my everyday makeup looks.
