Today's Fab Tip:
Contouring your cheeks when you don't have any makeup? Sounds like a quick fix that's too good to be true. But I found this tip in Glamour UK, and it actually does work. This is meant to be a touch-up idea at work kind of thing, but you can easily do it anywhere on the go.
"Rest your elbows on the desk [or other flat surface], then position your cheekbones over your fingertips and relax forwards, so your fingertips go up and under your cheekbones. Hold this for a minute. Then cup your hands and rest your chin and jaw into them. The slight upward traction will stimulate your facial muscles."
-- Facialist Emma Hardie in Glamour magazine, UK edition, June 2015, p. 164.
Just a word of advice: don't do this if you have really long nails or, say, a jagged broken nail cuz you could accidentally scratch your face. And the contouring doesn't really stand out against a scratched, bleeding face. Just saying.
Have you tried this tip? Let me know if it works for you or not.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: A Twist On A Classic
Today's Fab Tip:
My two main eyeliner looks are smudgy rock n roll kohl and liquid liner cat eyes. If you have a go-to look, try switching it up with a new color.
"Switch classic black for a navy feline flick."
-- Taken from Glamour magazine, UK edition, June 2015, page 155.
A navy blue cat eye is sophisticated, and it works in a professional setting while still allowing you to have fun by shaking up the norm a bit. Try other classic eyeliner looks in blue too.
What's your go-to eyeliner style? Let me know in the comments.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: Fixing Melted Makeup
Today's Fab Tip:
Lately the humidity's been awful with all the rain and everything. It's been wreaking havoc on my hair and makeup. I already have a problem with melting makeup because my skin is so oily that it constantly needs retouching. The new issue of Glamour offers makeup artist Nick Barose's tip on fixing your runny, melty foundation on a hot humid summer day.
"Barose advises 'gently patting down the streak with a makeup wipe that's not too wet or oily'.... Then use a dampened makeup sponge to soften sweat lines and apply a tinted moisturizer... all over your face, on top of existing foundation, to blend color."
--Taken from Glamour magazine, June 2015, page 88.
Be sure to blend in well so that it doesn't end up streakier, and try not to overdo the powder, or it might end up cakey.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: Mix and Match Brights and Neutrals
Today's Fab Tip:
Don't be afraid of bold makeup with a toned down outfit. It's a great contrast.
"Do pair strong colour with neutrals. Neons and highlights of pink brought together with nudes is very signature for me. Make-up is the ultimate accessory -- you can wear jeans and a T-shirt with a bright lip and it makes the look."
--Christopher Kane in Glamour UK magazine, May 2015, page 157.
So statement lips and neutral clothes or neutral makeup with very bold clothes: it's a great way to look pulled together and effortless.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: Easy Tie-Dyed Nail Art
Today's Fab Tip:
I've mentioned before that I kinda suck at nail art, so I'm always happy to find an easy hack for a lazy girl like me to have adorable nails.
"Swirl pastels for a tie-dyed look."
-- Taken from Glamour magazine, May 2015, page 110.
Seriously, it's that simple. Take two pastel nail polishes and swirl them together on your nails to make it look tie-dyed and artsy. Plus it's a way to use two fun colors at once when you can't decide. ;-) Just dip a q-tip in nail polish remover and clean up around your nail bed if you accidentally color outside the lines. Personally, I'd love to pair a mint and pale petal pink together for this kind of look. If you want to get a little more complex, add in a third polish.
What colors are you going to use together for tie-dyed nails? Let me know in the comments, or tweet me a picture of your mani @ak_gossipghoul.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: The Right Pink Lipstick For You
Today's Fab Tip: rock pink lips, choosing the shade that works for your skin tone!
"Choose a bubblegum, fuchsia or baby pink if you have pale skin and a red-toned or hot pink shade for warmer skin. There's a pink out there for everyone."
-- Mel Arter, Max Factor makeup artist in Glamour magazine, UK edition, July 2013, page 185.
Pink lips can be subtle or bold, but they always make a feminine statement.
