This Has Happened A Lot, Actually

A little variation on the Day In The Life blurb...

I'm afraid to admit that this has happened on multiple occasions lately.

I might work at a Korean grocery store, but I live really close to a large Midwest supermarket chain, Kroger, and I get a lot of food from there. Mainly because if I shop where I work I end up with a cartload of Matcha Pocky, matcha ice cream, mochi daifuku, various other Japanese chocolates, matcha funwariyaki, pouches of red bean paste that I eat with a spoon-- are you getting the pattern here? Not enough, you know, non-desserts.

So I go shopping at Kroger after work, and I come across a display of Doritos splashed with pictures of the Avengers. I squeal in delight and start grabbing at all the flavors.
"
Wait, wait, wait," my Subconscious tells me. (Side note: yes, that is a Fifty Shades of Grey reference. Thank you for noticing. I have an Inner Goddess too; she's the white girl version of Titus from The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.)
My Inner Goddess, essentially. Gif from Tumblr.
"Hold on," says my Subconscious. "You don't even like Doritos!"

"But Avengers!" is my witty reply.

"You hate Doritos! You can't stand the taste! You won't even be able to finish one chip!"

"But Avengers..."

Eventually I talk myself out of buying the overpriced chips of artificial nasty taste and put the bags back. Then I wander over to the frozen section...

"OMG there's Avengers Eggo Waffles!" I exclaim. In my head. This conversation takes place entirely in my head, in case that wasn't clear. I'm not crazy. Much.

"No, no, no!" my Subconscious yells at me. "Those are full of unhealthy carbs!"

"And these are Avengers Eggo Waffles with chocolate chips!!!" I squeal.

"That's not even real chocolate!" argues my Subconscious. "And there's not enough space to store them in the freezer, anyway."

"AVENGERS EGGO WAFFLES!!!" I shout in my mind. I grab the box and grin at the pictures of Thor, Tony, and Cap.

And that is why I keep buying boxes of Eggo waffles.

Song of the Week: I Know You

Here's another song off the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack that frequently gets stuck in my head. I think it's beautiful, and it really does describe how, when in love, you open yourself up to the person you fall for. Since I'm currently writing paranormal romance where one character is a closed-off bitch with an attitude and the other is sweet and genuine, "I Know You" really helps me to get into that mindset of reaching out and discovering who the person you love really is.

What do you think of the song? Do you like it more than "Love Me Like You Do"? Which song off the Fifty Shades movie soundtrack is your favorite? Let me know in the comments.

Song of the Week: Love Me Like You Do

"Love Me Like You Do" by Ellie Goulding is my new favorite song. I've been listening to it on repeat lately. Once in a while, I find a song that just fills me with happiness, and this is one of those. I love the entire soundtrack to the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. I love the book and the movie too, but the soundtrack is particularly awesome. It's a great mix of songs with romantic stuff, Danny Elfman instrumentals, classic rock Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, and more, but "Love Me Like You Do" is my favorite song on there. Here's the official music video for it.

This song especially means a lot to me because it's been inspiring my writing. The love songs that I've really focused on lately I've been associating with the main romance on my current book, Hell's Bells. Usually I find a song that relates to how one girl feels or the how the other girl feels (yes, it's a lesbian romance), but there are only a few songs that accommodate both girls' perspectives. "Love Me Like You Do" is one of those, which means it's doubly inspiring to me, and right now I can use all the inspiration I can get.

What did you think of the song? Have you listened to the Fifty Shades soundtrack? What loves songs inspire you? Let me know in the comments, or tweet me @ak_gossipghoul.
