Fabulous Tip of the Day: Plumped Up Nude Lips

Today's Fab Tip:

Want fabulous Brigitte Bardot lips? Here's a great way to get that look.

" 'A nude lipstick will make lips look fuller,' says makeup artist Shehla Shaikh. 'Massage lips with clear balm, then neutralise your natural colour with a little concealer, two shades lighter than your base. Trace your lips' very outer edges with nude liner appropriate to your colouring (the ideal shade for dark skin tones is one that matches the inside bottom lip), then fill lips out with it. Apply glossy lipstick in a similar nude to the centre of your lips. The most flattering nudes always have a little pink in them.' "

Pair with voluminous lashes for a flirty, feminine look.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: Vamp Lips

Today's Fab Tip: a very glamorous and sexy dark lip.

"Vampy pout: Dark gloss makes a fierce statement! One swipe of deep berry is all you need to make your look ready to rock all night long."
-- Taken from Seventeen magazine, February 2014, page 50.

Glossy dark lips keeps this look flirty and casual. Go for a matte vamp lip for a more sophisticated look. Remember to smile mysteriously for extra sexiness.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: The Right Pink Lipstick For You

Today's Fab Tip: rock pink lips, choosing the shade that works for your skin tone!

"Choose a bubblegum, fuchsia or baby pink if you have pale skin and a red-toned or hot pink shade for warmer skin. There's a pink out there for everyone."
-- Mel Arter, Max Factor makeup artist in Glamour magazine, UK edition, July 2013, page 185.

Pink lips can be subtle or bold, but they always make a feminine statement.

Post One Hundred! And Fabulous Tip of the Day

Hey, everyone! This is the one hundredth post on the Gossip Ghoul Blog! Exciting, right? It is to me. It's taken me a long time to get to this point. I just have to keep working, keep trying to get ahead, keep writing, as difficult as it can get some time. I have a lot of great things planned for this blog, and I'm working hard to get it together. I have the new laptop now (Thanks a billion to my best friend for donating her old one to me! XOXO!), and there are a lot of fall trends starting up to talk about. The way I see it, life is short, so I have to be fabulous in the time I have left to live. There's too little time for me to keep getting depressed and letting that take over everything about me. I want to share that fabulosity with all of you.

Today's Fab Tip:

"Worn-In Lips: ... For diffused colour, blend a little concealer around the edges of the lip line with a cotton bud. To get that stained effect, Chase Aston, The Body Shop International Make-up Artist, recommends buffing your lipstick of choice with an eyeshadow brush."
-- Taken from Elle magazine, UK edition, September 2013, page 311.

A soft, faded lip is a beautiful way to make a red lip a little less intense for day. Pair with soft, minimal eyes.

And as a special treat for the one hundredth post (and because I can finally embed videos again), a funny scene from The Greatest TV Show Ever to brighten up your day. It's brightened up mine, after all.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: DIY Lipstick Color

Today's Fab Tip comes from one of the most renowned makeup artists out there, Bobbi Brown.

"Use eyeshadow and lip balm to create a matte lipstick. Watch out, though, when choosing your shadow color -- most are too gray or brown."
-- Taken from Bobbi Brown Teenage Beauty by Bobbi Brown, page 57.

This is a great way to rock vampy burgundy lips or peachy-orange lips, and it's a good method to try out a new lip color without committing to buying a new lipstick.

Fabulous Tip of the Day: Cerise Cheeks and Lips

Today's Fab Tip:

"Dab a cerise-colored gel blush onto cheeks, then coat lips with a matching crayon. Complementary pops of color look pulled together and brighten your face instantly."
-- Taken from Cosmopolitan magazine September 2013, page 132.

Add some black eyeliner and mascara, and you've got yourself a simple but polished look.
